Event Desc: Wayne County EMS, in collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic EMS Academy, is pleased to announce that they will offer a Certified Intensive Care Provider (CICP) course. The CICP course is taught across the United Stated and internationally. The Course helps prepare providers for advanced certification examinations through the Board of Critical Care Transport Certifications (FP-C & CCP-C) and the Air and Surface Transport Nursing Association (CFRN & CTRN). The precourse requirements include ACLS, BCLS, PHTLS or ITLS, and PALS or PEPP. This course will be meet for 2 hours online or on campus every Tuesday & Thursday from August 14st to December 16th. The course will include 100 hours of lecture and skills, as well as an online pre-course "Guidelines for Air Medical Crew Education" was designed by the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS). Instructors will include Wayne County EMS paramedics, flight nurses and flight paramedics from area air medical services, critical care paramedics from across the United States, physicians from the Lake Cumberland region, as well as physicians from University of Kentucky. The course culminates with a 3 day required on campus capstone that reviews the necessary skills of the critical care provider. Skills include RSI, surgical airways, ventilator management, arterial lines, central line, chest tube, gastric tube, umbilical catheters, and more. Day 3 of the capstone will consist of a skills and written examination. Successful completion of the course and the examinations will result with the CICP credential.
