Skip Kirkwood, MS, JD, EMT-P, EFO, CMO

Skip Kirkwood, MS, JD, EMT-P, EFO, CMO is the Chief of the Wake County (N.C.) EMS Division and the immediate past president of the National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA). An EMT since 1973 and a nationally-registered paramedic since 1984, he has spent his career serving in every conceivable model of EMS system, including a five-year stint as Oregon's state EMS chief. He’s a well-known author, speaker, educator, and advocate for the advancement of EMS. He has an M.S. in Health Services Administration and a Juris Doctorate from Rutugers University. He was admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In his spare time, Skip plays the bagpipes, and is a founding member of the Wake & District Public Safety Pipes and Drums, a public safety service band dedicated to honoring the memory of public safety officers killed in the line of duty.
