(AP) CHICAGO - An explosion at a factory on Chicago's West Side sent bricks and other debris hundreds of feet in the air and injured two workers - one seriously.
Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says the 9 a.m. explosion seriously damaged the one-story building. But Langford says all of the other employees appear to be accounted for and uninjured.
Langford says the explosion appears to have been caused by a mixing of chemicals, but he didn't have any other information. He says the fire department hazmat team is trying to determine what chemicals are involved before they enter the building to investigate.
Langford also says some people in the neighborhood complained about apparently minor respiratory problems that may be related to the plume of smoke from the explosion.
