RAV Fryslan has selected Optima Corporation’s predict strategic planning solution to help the organization create the first computer simulation of ambulance care in The Netherlands. The pilot agreement will enable Dutch healthcare providers to study and optimize the performance of ambulances in the northern Netherlands province of Fryslan.

Chris Mackay, CEO of the Optima Corporation says the pilot study will help RAV Fryslan analyze historical data and create the basis for a plan to improve performance of ambulance operations in Dokkum, Buitenpost, and Burgum in Fryslan.

“Operational changes such as moving ambulance standby locations, increasing the use of mobile ambulance capacity, and changing the availability of ambulances at certain hours of the can boost performance significantly if applied correctly. Using Optima predict helps ensure the decisions made will have a positive effect on service and operational efficiencies,” says Mr. Mackay.

The pilot study agreement will enable RAV Fryslan to evaluate specific business issues and the impact Optima’s solutions can provide prior to implementing the software across the north of The Netherlands and in other Dutch ambulance operational regions. RAV Fryslan expects that simulation models will become a standard tool for optimizing performance in  ambulance-based healthcare.

Optima’ solutions are currently deployed in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
