New Phone App Version of MSDS Pocket Dictionary Now Available

There’s a new way for workers and emergency response personnel to decipher the intimidating technical terms and abbreviations they frequently encounter on material safety data sheets (MSDS) and chemical container labels. The MSDS Apptionary is a new iPhone™ and iPad™ app that puts more than 1,000 reader-friendly MSDS-related definitions just a finger tap away. Embedded within these definitions are scores of telephone and website links that will instantly connect users who need more hazard, environmental and regulatory information about a chemical to reliable and authoritative sources for that information.

This new app is published by Genium Group Inc., the same General Electric Co. spinoff that developed the hard-copy MSDS Pocket Dictionary, which remains one of the most popular hazard communication references ever published, with close to two million copies sold.

“MSDS users are also cellphone users,” said Mike Cinquanti, president of Genium Group Inc., when explaining the biggest advantage the new Apptionary offers to users. “Since most people won’t go anywhere without their cellphones, marrying our glossary with the iPhone means more people will have instant and easier access to this data, whenever and wherever they need it.”

Genium will also be releasing e-book versions of the MSDS Pocket Dictionary that are compatible with the other major phone and tablet reader platforms in the near future.

iPhone and iPad users can get more information, view sample screens of the MSDS Apptionary and also download a copy for just $1.99 at the iTunes store.
