Ambos to Carry Capsicum Spray

QUEENSLAND, Australia -- It's enough to make you shake your head in wonder - Ipswich ambulance officers assaulted as they go above and beyond tending the wounded.

An Ipswich paramedic, who did not wish to be named, said patients had assaulted local officers in recent months.

The news comes as the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union (LHMU) called for Queensland officers to be equipped with capsicum spray.

State organiser Jason Dutton said officers wanted the spray to protect themselves until legislation offering them more protection was introduced.
