BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Vermont police say a woman is dead after she doused herself with gasoline and lit herself on fire at a Burlington gas station.
Police Chief Mike Schirling says investigators are confident the woman intentionally committed suicide. He says more information will be released later.
Gas station owner David Simendinger tells the Burlington Free Press (http://bfpne.ws/MQhb0r ) the clerk cut off the gas flow to the pumps, ran out and used a fire extinguisher to douse the flames. Simendinger says the clerk is a hero.
The fire was reported at about 12:30 p.m. Monday.
