Editor's Note:
A fund has been established for John Bowers, the injured Gold Star Ambulance Employee. He is in critical condition in the ICU. At this difficult time his family and friends are wondering what we can do to help Jon and his family. In addition to the faith and prayers on Jon’s behalf a bank account has been established at Zions Bank. See "John Bowers Fund" for additional information.

An emergency medical technician with Gold Cross Ambulance remained in critical condition Monday after he was involved in a car accident Sunday in Taylorsville.

Jonathan Bowers was driving his own car about 6 a.m. Sunday when a crash involving his vehicle and three others occurred at the intersection of 6200 South and 4015 West, said Taylorsville Assistant Police Chief Wayne Dial.

Dial said he didn't have details about which car struck Bowers' vehicle.

However, the 26-year-old driver who appears to have caused the crash was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run and driving on a suspended license.

The driver ran from the crash scene but was later found by Unified Police Department officers hiding in a window well.

Bowers, who has been employed with Gold Cross for six years, is being treated at Intermountain Medical Center.

"Our prayers are with [Bowers' mother] and his family and with Jonathan," said Gold Cross spokesman Chris Delamare.
