KILDARE, Okla. - At least seven people, including five students, were hurt when a pickup truck collided with a school bus in the north-central Oklahoma town of Kildare.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the injured children were treated at a Ponca City hospital and released following the 3:36 p.m. accident on Tuesday.
Troopers say the truck driven by Arkansas City, Kan., resident Clifford Barney was traveling south on Pecan Road when it failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with the bus, which was carrying 16 students and the driver.
Barney was flown by medical helicopter to a Wichita, Kan., hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.
His passenger, Arkansas City, Kan., resident Hilda Slaight, was taken to a Ponca City hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition.
