CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Forty-year-old EMS Paramedic Michael Lamar Johnston is accused of fondling a woman in his ambulance and taking pictures of her private parts.

The alleged incident happened July 25th.  The victim says Johnston thought she was asleep while he touched her and took lewd pictures.

The woman reported the incident and, after an internal investigation, Johnston was let go from his job working at an EMS Station on Highway 58.

"I'm very disappointed," says Director of EMS Services Don Allen. "You know, this is a matter of public trust.  When people come to us, they got to believe and expect they could trust us and let me tell you they can."

Allen wants to assure everyone he has professional people working for him.

"We got a lot of wonderful people working for us but when we found something has taken place that shouldn't have taken place that's something we can't tolerate," says Allen.

After the accusation, Allen ordered an internal investigation and fired Johnston soon after.

Allen says this type of incident has never happened before in Hamilton County, that he's aware of.

Johnston is charged with sexual battery and taking unlawful pictures. He is scheduled for court September 17th.
