CARLSBAD, N.M. - Six people are hospitalized after two pickup trucks crashed head-on between Carlsbad and Artesia.
Sgt. Chris Clements of the New Mexico State Police says the crash occurred Friday afternoon on Illinois Camp Road.
He says a preliminary investigation shows that a truck owned by Arrowhead Energy Exploration was southbound when it collided with a northbound pickup owned by the state Oil Conservation Division.
The driver of the Arrowhead truck was airlifted for hospital treatment. The three passengers of the oil company truck, and the two occupants of the state truck, were transported by ambulance to hospitals.
Clements says no names were immediately being released and no citations had been issued pending investigation.
