GALVESTON, Texas — As many as 16 people were inside an elevator Wednesday morning at the prison hospital when it fell about 3 feet, a fire official said. No major injuries were reported.
The elevator’s braking system stopped the lift at the ground floor of the University of Texas Medical Branch tower at 301 University Blvd. in Galveston. The tower houses a hospital for inmates of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
