SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Spartanburg officials say a child has died and several others were injured after a train ride at Cleveland Park overturned.
Spartanburg Police spokesman Art Littlejohn says more than a dozen children and adults were taken to a local hospital after Saturday's crash.
Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said one child died, but the child's name was not released.
The other children on the train were thought to be between 3 and 12 years old. The extent of their injuries were not immediately available.
The county runs the park. Spartanburg County Councilman David Britt told the Herald-Journal of Spartanburg that the train's track and been completely reworked a couple of years ago. The track collapsed in the crash.
The derailment is under investigation.
