N.J. EMS Captain Dies Following Response

He reported not feeling well and was transported by ambulance.

MAPLEWOOD, N.J. -- Bruce Mandel, longtime captain of the Maplewood (N.J.) First Aid Squad, died Monday morning following a response, according to MaplewoodPatch.com.

Mandel had just taken a patient to St. Barnabas Hospital and did not feel well.

According to FirefighterCloseCalls.com, he stopped at the Maplewood Fire Department, where personnel encouraged him to seek medical attention.

He was transported by ambulance. En route to the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest and eventually was pronounced dead.
