Man Arrested for Attacking EMSA Medic

The attacker has previous felony convictions dating back to 1996

Tulsa—A man was arrested early Saturday after an EMSA medic was attacked at a Tulsa hospital. The medic was able to evade the attack and was unharmed, EMSA spokesman Chris Stevens said.

Smokey Don Pipes, 34, of Tulsa is being held on an assault with a deadly weapon complaint after reportedly attempting to cut or stab the medic through an ambulance window around 1 a.m. at SouthCrest Hospital, 8801 S. 101st East Ave., according to his arrest report.
