REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Police in western Pennsylvania say an elderly woman was killed when part of a deer struck by another vehicle went through her windshield and hit her.
State police in Jefferson County say 70-year-old Rosemary Bower of Brookville was traveling east on Route 830 in Washington Township at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday when a westbound car struck a deer that ran onto the road.
The deer went airborne and hit Bower's windshield, and the impact cut the animal in half and sent the head and shoulders into the car, killing Bower. Her car hit another car about four-tenths of a mile down the road before stopping in a ditch.
The drivers of the two other cars were uninjured. Police say no charges will be filed as a result of the accident.
