Fla. EMT Rescues Injured Hiker on Appalachian Trail

Her skills as an EMT also allowed her to treat & care for other hikers who were injured in the backcountry

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Samantha Michaud of Loxahatchee recently finished thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. The 2,181-mile long footpath stretches from Georgia to Maine, traversing 14 states.

Samantha, a 2010 graduate of the University of Florida who studied English and forestry, started her hike March 10 and finished Aug. 9, enduring rain, sleet, snow, and record high temperatures while carrying a 30-pound pack.
