CLARKSBURG (WUSA) - A collision between two Montgomery County school buses in Clarksburg has sent a dozen people, mostly children, to local hospitals.
Officials tell 9NEWS NOW the driver of an empty school bus leaving Little Bennett Elementary School lost control on a curvy portion of rain-slicked Stringtown Road and clipped another bus heading towards the school with 24 children on board. The impact between the two vehicles sent the loaded bus into the trees that border the roadway.
Dana Tofig, spokesman for Montgomery County Public Schools, confirms 10 children and two bus drivers have been transported from the scene to two area hospitals. Tofig says they are hopeful that none of the injuries are serious, however specific information on their injuries has not been released.
Right now the eastbound lanes of Stringtown Road are shut down at St. Clair Road.
