SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- A San Diego rock climber survived a 50-foot fall in Joshua Tree National Park on Tuesday.
Michael Mullen, 30, was climbing in an area known as the Outer Mongolia rock formation about 1 p.m. when he lost his footing and fell, park officials said.
He suffered a head injury, along with cuts and scrapes.
Park rangers, search and rescue volunteers, San Bernardino County firefighters and sheriff's deputies came to the scene to rescue the man.
Paramedics flew him to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.
