LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — The side of an ambulance was ripped open when it was struck by a flatbed truck while transporting a patient in Lafayette.
Police say the crash involving the ambulance owned by the private Keeney Ambulance and Transport Service happened Thursday evening when the approaching truck veered across a street's center line.
City police officer Will Carpenter tells the Journal & Courier (http://on.jconline.com/rAqoWi ) that no one in the ambulance was badly hurt. The crash peeled back the metal on the rear driver's side of the ambulance and left insulation and other debris strew for several hundred feet along the road.
Police cited the truck's 18-year-old driver for driving left of center.
