Growth in North Texas with acquisition of StarPlus EMS

MARIA LAMBERT, Acadian Companies | | Friday, December 7, 2012

Acadian Ambulance Service has expanded its North Texas service area with the acquisition of StarPlus EMS in McKinney.

The expansion, which took effect at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, added 50 full time employees, eight ambulances and three wheelchair vans to their Texas operations.

Acadian Ambulance now provides emergency and non-emergency service in 33 Texas counties, including Denton, Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Grayson and Hunt. The company began operating in the state in 2006.

Porter Taylor, vice president of operations, said, “Acadian Ambulance is committed to the North Texas market, and we are excited about the opportunities the purchase of StarPlus presents. This is a case of two good companies coming together to provide the best possible patient care and customer service in the region.”

Acadian Ambulance serves the Houston, San Antonio and Austin areas and Louisiana and Mississippi. They are nationally accredited—one of only 150 ambulance services in the nation and one of six in Texas to have earned the prestigious designation.

Since 1971, Acadian has been committed to providing the highest level of emergency medical care and transportation possible. In the past decade, the company has expanded to include a diverse suite of services in health, safety, and transportation. Acadian’s six divisions are Acadian Ambulance Service, Acadian Monitoring Services, Air Med, Executive Aircraft Charter Service, National EMS Academy and Safety Management Systems.
