DITTMER, Mo. (AP) — An explosion at a Jefferson County fireworks company injured three people, one of them seriously.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Capt. Ralph Brown says the explosion happened early Tuesday at Global Pyrotechnic Solutions near Dittmer.
A 33-year-old man with serious burns was flown to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in St. Louis County.
Two additional victims, a 22-year-old man and 23-year-old man, were taken by ambulance to St. Clare Hospital in Fenton.
Brown says investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the explosion. The ATF will lead the investigation.
Workers told St. Louis-area media that they heard a flash explosion on the 180-acre complex. They said the three victims were disoriented but walking and talking after the explosion.
