CAMBRIDGE, Md. (AP) — The State Fire Marshal's Office now says 21 people were taken to hospitals after escaping a burning Cambridge apartment building.
Fire marshals and Cambridge police continue to investigate the cause and origin of the fire, which broke out late Sunday night. Nearly 100 firefighters spent just short of 2 hours bringing the fire under control.
Many of the 21 injured occupants jumped from windows of the three-story building. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. Also, two firefighters were treated at a hospital for stress-related injuries and released.
The building included a clothing store on the first floor and eight total apartments on the second and third floors.
