14 Hurt in Kansas School Bus Accident

High winds may have contributed to the accident.

NESS CITY, Kan. — A school bus collided with another vehicle and rolled over, injuring 14, including all 12 students on the bus.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the accident occurred about 8 a.m. Friday in western Kansas. High winds up to 50 miles per hour were reported in the area early Friday, but patrol spokesman Mark Engholm said it's unclear if weather contributed to the accident.

He said the bus collided with an SUV at an intersection in Ness County. All 14 were taken to hospitals. He did not know the extent of their injuries, but said the driver of the SUV was reported in critical condition. The driver of the school bus was also taken to a hospital.

Engholm said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
