JASPER, Alta. - As many as 10 people were injured on Saturday night after an explosion blew apart a workers' bunkhouse at a horse riding facility in Jasper, Alta.

Mayor Richard Ireland says the "powerful explosion" at the site just north of Jasper appears to have been caused by a propane explosion.

He says three of the injured were transported to hospitals in Edmonton for non-life threatening injuries and the others were treated locally.

Ireland says many of the injuries consisted of broken bones and abrasions.

He says the two-storey bunkhouse that exploded was home to as many as 10 people who work at the site such as trail guides and other staff.

He says the facility, owned by Mountain Park Lodges, houses horses owned by area residents.
