Los Angeles City Fire Dept (LAFD) crews are shown triaging 40 people involved in a morning bus-versus-car collision that occurred in the Battalion 5, Hollywood district of L.A. in early December 2007. The charter bus was packed with 40 womenƒall mothers of twinsƒheading to a taping ofThe Dr. Phil Show. While descending an off ramp from the Hollywood 101 freeway, the driver was unable to stop, collided with a sedan at the end of the off ramp, careened off the roadway, crashed through a fence and struck two trees on the grounds of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood.

A total of 69 LAFD personnel responded to the incident that injured 18 adults and one child. In just 20 minutes, all 40 bus occupants, the driver and a young passenger in the sedan were medically evaluated, triaged, treated and en route to L.A.-area hospitals (for those injured). The incident involved 10 LAFD rescue ambulances, eight LAFD companies, one heavy rescue crew, three EMS battalion captains, one battalion chief and one division chief. The non-injured passengers were moved into the church sanctuary by church staff and comforted until alternative transportation arrived.
