D.C. Agencies Pitch In To Help Social Workers With Case Backlog

Push to close cases after girls found dead in southeast home

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Personnel from D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services and other city agencies are helping social workers look after the city's children.



D.C.'s Child and Family Service Agency asked other agencies for help managing a backlog of investigations. District agencies are loaning the agency temporary personnel to help out with a major push to close about 1,500 investigations that are currently incomplete.



The push comes after the bodies of four girls were discovered inside a southeast Washington row home early this year. The girls' mother, Banita Jacks, has been charged in their deaths.
