COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) Emergency workers in Columbus County are currently unable to communicate with dispatch operators at the 911 center, which can make helping people difficult.
"It's real uneasy because it puts everybody's life at risk," said Columbus County Sheriff Chris Batten. "When they can't communicate it's hard for us to communicate with victims and let them know what's taking place - everybody is in jeopardy."
