2012 JEMS Buyer's Guide

An educated buyer is a smart buyer

From the November 2012 Issue | Monday, November 19, 2012

Even when the economy was healthy, EMS agencies had to optimize every budget dollar by carefully considering every purchase. Making the correct purchasing decisions—whether you’re investing in products for yourself or your department—is very important. What’s right for one department or company won’t necessarily be right for another.

Being an educated buyer can help you sift through the offerings and strike the right balance. You don’t want to buy something simply because it’s the newest product on the market. Many products have proven their value to the field of EMS over time and in special research. You also want to make sure that you don’t miss developments that could greatly enhance the safety or effectiveness of your crews.

That’s why we changed our annual JEMS Buyer’s Guide this year. We moved all the company and product listings to JEMS.com to make them easily accessible to you via your phone or computer and turned to our expert contributors and technical editors to bring you exclusive information on trends and issues affecting major EMS and emergency response product areas; tips on spec-ing, purchasing and using your equipment; and highlights of products in multiple product categories.

With the myriad responsibilities facing EMS personnel and agencies, it was impossible for us to touch on everything. But we’re confident you’ll find information in the following pages that can make a difference the next time you make a purchase, striving to get you the most for your money.
