LITCHFIELD, N.H. A Londonderry rescue worker responding to a request for mutual aid from Litchfield for a car accident on Wednesday discovered that one of the victims was his mother, said a fire rescue official.

According to Litchfield Fire Chief Tom Schofield, a Pontiac Grand Prix and a Ford Ranger pickup truck collided at the intersection of Page Road and Route-3A at about 3:30 p.m. The Pontiac was turning onto Route-3A from Page Road, although it was unclear if it was turning left or right, when it was struck in the driver's side door by the Ranger, which was traveling north

The woman driver of the Pontiac was alert and conscious when rescue crews arrived but she was trapped inside the car, Schofield said. She was freed after a hydraulic cutting tool was used on the car.

During the rescue effort, mutual aid was requested from Londonderry, said Schofield, and one of the responders from Londonderry realized that his mother was the driver of the Pontiac. She was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, accompanied by her son, to be medically evaluated.

She has been identified as Irene Bilodeaux, 77, of Londonderry, according to police Chief Joseph O'Brion. The name of her son, the Londonderry rescue worker, was unavailable.

The pickup truck driver, Robert Gregg, 30, of Weare, was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center by Londonderry ambulance for treatment of an injury to his leg, officials said.
