ALISON BYBEE | | Thursday, March 4, 2010

FORT PIERCE - A 22 year-old emergency medical technician is still recovering after being hit while in an ambulance.

Tuesday night, Fort Pierce Police say an SUV driven by 63 year-old Germaine Lindor slammed into an All County ambulance, tipping it on it's side. The ambulance was at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and 25th Street waiting to turn left. Lindor was traveling north on 25th Street. Lindor died at the scene. EMT Chris Doyle and paramedic, William Hines, were inside the ambulance. They were both rushed to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

Doyle's left leg was so badly injured, doctors had to amputate. He is now recovering at the hospital. He still has more surgeries to go and will learn life using a prosthetic leg.
