INDIANAPOLIS - Metro police say a man is dead and a woman is at Wishard hospital following a shooting on the city's near north side.
It happened just after 11 p.m. Thursday in an alley behind 1949 N. Bellefontaine Street.
There police found a 21 year old woman shot in the arm. She was taken to Wishard in good condition.
A few blocks away they found another victim, a man in his 30s shot in the chest.
He turned up when a car he was in ran into an ambulance near the intersection of 16th and Alabama.
Medics took him to Methodist hospital where he died. Others in the car drove away.
"There were multiple shots fired. We don't know the motive behind it or any suspects at this time. We are looking for a dark colored four dour we believe, possibly a Grand Am that may have driver side damage and acutally the driver's side mirror is knocked off. They left the scene. They are potential witnesses in this homicide and we want to talk to them," IMPD Lt. Jeff Duhammel said.
Police spent the early hours of Friday morning processing the crime scene which stretched over several blocks.
Police have not released any names yet.
They were hoping to learn more overnight by talking to the female victim at Wishard Hospital.
