Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Operations Manager is directly responsible for the activities and results of the Operations Supervisors, Assistant Operations Supervisors, Paramedics, and Emergency Medical Technicians. Primary responsibilities include: Keep the COO informed of the status of operations, problems or anticipated problems, and make recommendations for changes in the environment. Ensures all assigned employees are fully informed, and perform in accordance with policies, procedures, and protocols and all federal, state, and local EMS regulations. Serves in a leadership role in any disaster incident, drill or mass casualty when needed. Qualifications include: Must have 2 years management experience in field operations, for a high performance Emergency Medical Service (EMS) or public safety agency; possess and maintain current National Registry of EMT-P and Commonwealth of Virginia Paramedic certification; possess and maintain current certifications in the following: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Other certifications as required by the Health Department and/or Medical Control Board.
