Emergency Medical Services Coordinator/Instructor
(Grant Funded Position)
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under limited supervision, plans, organizes, and directs all instructional programs related to Emergency Medical Services Training curriculum for the Continuing Education and Community Development Division. Instructs students in various Emergency Medical Services classes and performs related administrative and recordkeeping duties. Attends advisory committee meetings and conducts research for curriculum development/updating. Serves on the Pitt County Director of Emergency Medicine Quality Management (QM) Committee and the Pitt County EMS Training Committee. Assists with program review, marketing plans, new course development, curriculum implementation, course scheduling, etc. Interacts with and assist students in various other related areas. Reports to the Director of Public Safety.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree in Emergency Services, Fire Science, Nursing or a related field; NCOEMS EMT-Paramedic Level II Instructor. North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Level I Instructor. Prefer North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Level II Instructor
(Must complete North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Level II within three years).
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Five years of teaching experience and five years practicing emergency medical services experience with requisite levels of instructor certification required; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities and instructor certifications required by the State of North Carolina.
SKILLS:
Has a considerable knowledge of the practices, procedures, rules and regulations of the Division and the college as they pertain to the position. Has comprehensive knowledge of the Department. Has extensive knowledge of the subject matter/courses taught, and possess excellent knowledge of techniques, practices and procedures to effectively instruct others in such. Has the ability to apply principles of influence systems in teaching processes. Has knowledge of general office operations, functions, and procedures as they relate to the position. Has the ability to compile, organize, prepare, and maintain and assortment of records, reports and related information. Has the ability to use abstract thinking in curriculum planning, course planning, etc. Has excellent human relations skills.
