Reporting directly to the Cole County Commissioner, this position will be an integral part of management leadership with significant responsibilities in strategic planning, leadership, management, client service excellence, business development, and operations management.
Position Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess a proven history of excellence in client service, leadership, operations management, and specific required competencies further described in the job position description. A degree or coursework in management, leadership training, EMS management, and/or business administration, with a minimum of 5 years EMS management experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ensure patient and employee safety in all areas of operations.
- Manage difficult or emotional patient situations; respond promptly to patient and employee needs, e-mails, telephone calls, etc.; solicit patient and employee feedback to improve service; respond to requests for service and assistance; meet commitments.
- Work with Service Medical Director to assure optimal clinical performance.
- Conduct business ethically and above reproach.
- Define and communicate strategic and organizational clarity.
- Ensure day-to-day operations are in full alignment with Cole County’s strategic direction.
- Resolve system problems that affect Cole County EMS operations by maintaining open communications and appropriate interfaces with management, staff and contracted personnel.
- Develop and oversee all Cole County EMS goals and objectives.
- Provide support and direction in a leadership role to direct reports.
- Monitor key Performance Indicators of individual team members; supervise, coach and take necessary action to facilitate achievement of performance targets.
- Ensure all Cole County EMS policies and procedures are followed by team members.
- Oversee and ensure on-going education, training, and mentoring to EMS staff.
- Assist employees with challenging customer situations, role-modeling prompt attention and follow-through with commitments. Facilitate creative solutions; demonstrate attention to detail while leading the team in alignment with the strategic vision, values, and goals.
- Create an empowering and rewarding work environment. Inspire and mobilize people to act and perform within a supportive work culture that does not tolerate or engage in turf wars, silos, or mean spirited behavior.
- Ensure that EMS goals clearly align to Cole County’s mission and values, and that the mission and values are applied in all day-to-day operations.
- Develop and update policies and procedures, and ensure they are followed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and State laws, rules, and regulations related to all EMS patient care service activities.
- Develop and establish performance standards, policies and procedures, and compliance with government regulations. Responsible to monitor compliance and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Plan and prioritize work activities, schedule and use time efficiently, set goals and objectives, and develop realistic action plans.
- Monitor and work within approved expense budget of Emergency Medical Services; proactively contribute to Cole County’s revenue, profit, and reputation.
- Support achievement of the annual Cole County and Emergency Medical Services’ goals and objectives.
