James J. Augustine, MD, FACEP

James J Augustine, M.D., FACEP is an emergency physician from Naples, Florida with 30 years of service in Emergency Medicine and EMS. He serves as Medical Director for Washington Township Fire Rescue in the Dayton, Ohio area; North Naples Fire in Florida; and with Atlanta Fire Rescue and its Airport Fire Rescue division, Riverdale Fire Services, Forest Park Fire EMS, City of Morrow Fire EMS, and Hapeville Fire in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Dr Augustine has a long history of serving in educational roles in emergency medicine. His current title is Assistant Clinical Professor, Wright State University, Department of Emergency Medicine.

He has served as the liaison to The Joint Commission from the American College of Emergency Physicians, where he became a member of the Board of Commissioners and the Chair of the Hospital Professional Technical Advisory Committee. Jim is the Director of Clinical Operations, EMP Ltd, Canton, Ohio.

Following 9/11, there was a need to upgrade preparedness within the hospital community. Dr Augustine came to serve as Chair of ASTM Task Group E54.02.01, which wrote the Standards for Hospital Preparedness Under Committee E54 on Homeland Security Applications.

He served as Assistant Fire Chief and Medical Director District of Columbia Fire EMS Department, and in a similar role for Atlanta Fire Rescue. He also served as the first Chair of the Ohio EMS Board.
