Man Found Burned near Vegas House Fire

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Firefighters in Las Vegas say a man is hospitalized with critical burn injuries after he was found walking on a downtown street near a fire outside a vacant house.

Fire spokesman Tim Szymanski (zim-ANN'-skee) says the man was found by firefighters a little after 4 a.m. Tuesday on New York Avenue near the Stratosphere hotel-casino.

He was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center. His name wasn't made public.

Firefighters quickly doused flames that burned a sofa and tent on the outside of the house.

Damage is estimated at $5,000.

Szymanski says neighbors reported the house has been used by homeless people and the burned man had been living in a tent next to the house.

The cause of the fire wasn't immediately determined.
