2 Injured as Motorcylce Crashes Into SUV Stopped for Ambulance in Indiana

A man and woman riding a motorcycle were taken to a hospital Wednesday night after crashing into the back of a stopped sport utility vehicle, police said.

A Three Rivers Ambulance Authority ambulance was westbound on Coliseum Boulevard at Crescent Avenue at 8:06 p.m. en route to an emergency call, said Sgt. Mark Brooks, a Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman. Eastbound traffic stopped to yield to the emergency vehicle, he said, but the motorcycle, operated by the man with a woman passenger, failed to stop and crashed into the SUV.

Both the man and woman were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The woman was later upgraded to serious condition, Brooks said.

The occupants of the SUV were not injured.

Eastbound lanes on Coliseum Boulevard from North Anthony Boulevard to Crescent Avenue were closed for at least an hour, Brooks said.
