Command College to offer Masters in Public Safety Administration

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Columbus State University’s Command College will offer a Masters in Public Safety Administration.

The program, which begins this fall, is designed for law enforcement professionals who are looking for career advancement opportunities, and top provide a networking opportunity for different branches of law enforcement and public safety — including fire departments.

The evolution of two disciplines necessitated the new program.

“We wanted a split between public administration and public safety because both fields are becoming so specialized,” David Lanoue, Columbus State’s Dean of the College of Letters and Science, said. “We wanted a standalone to deal with issues specific to law enforcement, corrections and fire safety. It was something that was needed.”

It will take two and half years (five semesters) to complete the program. In the college’s 17 years there have been 60 classes graduating 1,000 students.
