Nebraska School Bus, Semi Collide

NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) — Two girls who were injured in a collision between a school bus and semitrailer in northeast Nebraska are reported to be in serious condition.

Officials say eight of the 13 students aboard the bus were sent to hospitals after Monday morning's accident four miles west of Norfolk. Two of them were transferred to Omaha hospitals. The rest were treated and released.

Children's Hospital & Medical Center spokeswoman Cherie Lytle (SHARE'-ee LYE'-tuhl) said Tuesday that 11-year-old Bailey Hurlburt is in serious condition, a description that Lytle says she didn't expect would change during the day.

Norfolk radio station KNEN reports that (http://bit.ly/15ydl82) Deb Livingston says her 14-year-old daughter, Courtney, was unconscious at Creighton University Medical Center but was continuing to improve.

Authorities say foggy conditions contributed to the crash.
