FORTIS EMT INSTRUCTOR RECEIVES EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

SMYRNA, Ga. – (May 24, 2012) – Adam “Matt” McIntosh, course coordinator for the Fortis College Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program in Atlanta, was presented with the Educator of the Year award from the Georgia Association of EMS (GAEMS)-Region 3. This is the first time the award was presented to a Fortis employee. This award is presented to one EMS educator that has contributed significantly to EMS education at the community, regional and/or state level.
“What makes Matt such an amazing instructor and so worthy of this award is his commitment to mentor his students, not only while they are enrolled in his course, but also after graduation,” explained Campus President Bill Amour. “He truly meets the criteria set by the GAEMS of going beyond the call of duty.”

Matt has been an EMT for 17 years. He received his initial training in the army, where he served for 12 years and obtained his EMT Intermediate-99. He has been an instructor at Fortis College for six years and currently is pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at South University. He also serves in the Georgia Army National Guard and is a part-time paramedic for Bartow County EMS in North Georgia.

“I am honored to be nominated for this award and am thrilled to be the recipient,” explained Matt. “I love being in the classroom and enjoy sharing my experiences and knowledge with my students.”
