Atrus’ Canadian Representative Honored by IODE for His Service with Toronto Youth

Last night, The International Order of Daughters of the Empire (IODE) awarded Atrus’ Canadian representative and former Toronto EMS veteran Dave Ralph their Community Relations award at a dinner at the Spiral Banquet Centre.

Each year members of Emergency Services in Toronto are given this award for service in the community above and beyond the scope of their day to day job.

Dave is both a founding and charter member of Scouts Canada Venturer and Rover Scout groups called MedVents and MedRovers, respectively. Toronto EMS has sponsored these groups for the past 12 years. The programs involve youth from the ages of 15-24 year old and the concept is to: provide service in the form of First Aid to Scouting events in Canada, provide First Aid service to community events and, finally, to give youth an introduction to EMS as a potential career path.

During these past 12 years Dave has volunteered his time to serve as both the liaison officer from the Scout programs to Toronto EMS, as well as a direct advisor to the youth involved in the program. He continues with his advisory role today even after retirement from Toronto EMS.

Dave recently said "The opportunity to work with and assist in the development of young people in today`s society, is a great honour and privilege. I enjoy seeing the progress of these youth and know that they are the leaders of tomorrow"

“While Dave has only been with us for 3 short months, our team here at Atrus is gratified by level of community involvement that Dave has. We now know where he gets his passion in assisting us to save lives by rapidly locating nearby Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) with 911 dispatch during a Sudden Cardiac Arrest incident.” Atrus Inc. President and CEO Elliot Fisch remarked.

About Atrus, Inc.
Atrus' products and services improve the ability of 911 dispatchers to provide faster lifesaving automated external defibrillator (AED) response within a community. Atrus’ AED Link™ software notifies 911 centers of nearby AED location information from its National AED Registry™ to substantially increase the coverage range of public access AEDs.
