Las Vegas Firefighters Hurt In Ambulance Collision

LAS VEGAS - Two Las Vegas firefighters are recovering from injuries after their paramedic vehicle was hit from behind on an expressway.

Las Vegas fire spokesman Tim Szymanski (zim-ANN'-skee) says the firefighters were taken to University Medical Center with injuries that weren't life-threatening after the crash a little after 7 p.m. Sunday.

Szymanski says the ambulance was on the shoulder of Summerlin Parkway just east of the 215 Beltway when it was hit from behind. He says both firefighters were still wearing seat belts.

The unidentified driver in the other car wasn't hurt, and the people involve in the initial crash didn't require medical treatment after all.

Szymanski says the Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating.
