Alabama EMT Struck, Killed Working Highway Crash

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Authorities say an ambulance worker is dead after being hit by a vehicle while assisting victims of a wreck on Interstate 65 near Montgomery.

Troopers say 29-year-old Laura Elizabeth Pullam of Lowndesboro was helping victims of a crash when she was struck and fatally injured by a pickup truck Wednesday morning.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation showed the truck was speeding and passing other vehicles that had slowed down because of icy road conditions.

Troopers say the driver of the pickup wasn't injured, and the crash is under investigation.

Pullam worked as an emergency medical technician for Care Ambulance.
