West Virginia Paramedic Shot

A West Virginia paramedic is recovering after being shot in the hand while on a call Tuesday night.

WSAZ reports that Paramedic Ricky Carey, of Stat Ambulance, was shot when he approached a motorist that had flagged down his ambulance.

Carey walked up to the car, found the gun pointed at him, and tried to push it away when he was shot. He is listed in stable condition at a Huntington hospital where he wil be undergoing surgery.

No motive for the shooting is known, and there is no description of the suspect.
