EMS 10: Innovators in EMS 2009

Earlier this year, 10 progressive EMS professionals were recognized at the EMS Today Conference as the "EMS 10: Innovators in EMS" for 2008. Their efforts to drive the EMS profession forward were an inspiration and a challenge to the rest of the EMS community.  (Read more about their accomplishments.)

Looking back at 2009, what idea or process did you innovate that improved field care in your service area? What have your colleagues accomplished?

The nomination period for EMS 10 2009 is now closed.

Eligibility: This award is open to an individual who has contributed to EMS in an exceptional and innovative way. In 2009, nominees must have:

  • Introduced or published a new clinical or operational program or concept that constitutes an extraordinary contribution to prehospital emergency medicine; 
  • Revised a local protocol or standard operating procedure (SOP) that significantly enhanced the efficiency, safety or quality of EMS care or the work environment for EMS personnel; 
  • Implemented a unique educational model or recruitment and retention program that drastically increased or improved the local workforce; or
  • Spearheaded the development of a new state or regional group or agreement in an effort to improve preparedness for major incidents.            

Selection Process: Representatives from  JEMS /Elsevier Public Safety and a panel of EMS experts will judge the entrants. 

Award Details: The awards will be presented at EMS Today in March 2010. The winners (individuals and/or service representatives) will receive complimentary registration to attend the EMS Today Conference and Exposition in the year of the award presentation.
