Fairfax County EMS Supervisor Hits Firefighters at Accident Scene

HERNDON, Va. (WUSA) - Two Fairfax County firefighters were struck by an SUV driven by a colleague Tuesday evening as they attempted to help a cyclist who had previously been hit by a car.

That colleague was also driving a department vehicle and was also responding to the call.

The accidents took place near the intersection of Wiehle Avenue and Dranesville Road here before eight pm. The cyclist and one of the firefighters were flown by helicopter to a hospital.

The other firefighter was taken by ambulance for medical care.

All three were reported to be in stable condition Tuesday night with non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation into the accident began within minutes.
