Physio-Control Inc. LUCAS 2

physco-373

Manual CPR has been shown to be inconsistent at best, detrimental atÜworst. Arguably, the best way to get a consistent rate and depth of compression is to use a mechanical device. TheÜLUCAS 2 fromÜPhysio-Control Inc.Üis a battery-operated mechanical CPR device. The rescuer places the base plate underneath the patient, then attaches LUCAS 2 and positions it above the patientÌs sternum. You only need to use two fingers to place the piston on the chest, and then start the compression cycle. The molded compression piece thatÌs in contact with the sternum optimizes chest expansion afterÜeach compression. Compressions are easily switched from the 30:2 ratioÜfor BLS to continuous once an advanced airway is in place.
