Boy Rescued from Beach Tunnel Collapse

(AP) OCEAN CITY, Md. - The beach patrol in Ocean City, Md., says an 11-year-old Pennsylvania boy was rescued after a tunnel he was digging in the sand collapsed on him.

Beach patrol members helped dig the Pittsburgh boy out of the sand on the beach near 37th Street around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Kristin Joson of the Ocean City Beach Patrol says the boy did not have a pulse and was not breathing when they first got him out of the sand. But Joson says lifeguards were able to give him CPR and resuscitate him.

Lifeguards say the boy was able to talk in the ambulance on the way to Atlantic General Hospital and he was later flown to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Delaware.
