Emergency Workers in Santa Barbara County Prepare for Strike

SANTA BARBARA, Calif -- Emergency workers may go on strike in Santa Barbara County if a new contract is not approved.

American Medical Response laid out the latest offer on Wednesday. The company is offering 75 percent paid insurance benefits for newer employees and a wage increase by 13 percent over the next three years. The contract would last until 2010.

This is the best and final offer from AMR. The employees are set to vote Thursday and Friday. If it is not approved, more than 100 emergency workers will get ready for a strike.
